The Royal Anthropological Institute is seeking to appoint an Editorial assistant for the Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute. The Editorial assistant will work closely with the honorary Editor JRAI’s Editorial Collective, consisting of Hannah Knox, Adam Reed, Chika Watanabe, and Tom Yarrow.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone aiming to pursue a career in anthropology. The editorial assistant position offers valuable insights into the workings of the UK's top anthropology journal, the ins and outs of peer-review, the dos and don'ts of article submission. It also provides an unparalleled vantage-point on the current intellectual landscape of anthropology.

Responsibilities include: liaising with authors, reviewers, editorial board members, and publishers (Wiley); managing aspects of the online editorial system; managing aspects of the production process, including preparing manuscripts for copy-editing; updating/curating sections of the journal's website, and running the journal’s social media channels.

Candidates will be in possession of a degree in anthropology, and preferably studying for or in possession of a doctorate. The position requires someone who is very efficient, extremely organized, and able to work independently; has high literacy skills; some content management/web design skills and/or willingness to learn.

Time commitment: up to 17 hours per week.
Rate of pay: £12.50 per hour.

This is a remote post and the successful candidate will work from home.

The appointment will be from 15 September 2022 for 2 years in the first instance.
