With great sadness, because of the ongoing situation with regard to the COVID-19, we will be closing the institute’s building on Monday 16 March 2020 indefinitely. All in person events until 1 September 2020 are postponed or cancelled. The RAI’s staff will be continuing to work as usual remotely.

We hope very much that our large conference ‘Anthropology and Geography’ can be reconvened for June 2022, and will discuss this possibility with our partners: SOAS, the BM, RGS and the British Academy.

We assume at this juncture that our medical anthropology conference, to be held at the LHSTM in September 2020, and that the Film Festival in March 2021 will go ahead.

Though we are unable to hold events, the staff will be continuing to work on the RAI’s future programme and current projects, and we do not anticipate anything other than normal service with regard to our publications.

We do not yet have a date for the AGM, but we will plan for it to take place as usual in September.

It may be that the quickest way to contact any colleague will be by e-mail, which can be obtained from the RAI’s web-site, and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

In the hope that the situation will improve quickly.
