In Pursuit of Happiness

Ray Ono, Japan/UK, 2009, 31 mins

Tokyo life as rarely seen on mainstream media. This short film takes you to the lives of “homeless” men who live on the outskirts of the city and of Japanese society.

Home

Jennifer Peachy, UK/Japna, 2007, 30 mins

Intimate and warm, this portrayal of the film-maker’s Japanese mother explores experiences, reflections and memories of family and life in Japan and “barbaric England”. As the journey unfolds, we find ourselves in Japan for the Festival of the Dead where emotional idiosyncrasies that lie behind this national festival are revealed, and the importance of understanding “home” and we are in the world is put into question.
