    The ACLAIIR Directory of Latin American and Iberian Audiovisual Collections was originally conceived to bring to light and publicize audiovisual resources currently available in the United Kingdom for the study and research of Latin America and Iberia.
  • Astra Film Festival
    ASTRA FILM FEST is a forum for ethnographic and documentary film productions with a special focus on East and Central Europe. It is a place for special thematic programs, workshops about visual media, social scientific research, representation etc.
  • Beeld for Beeld
    BEELD VOOR BEELD is a documentary film festival dealing with culture and representation. Rooted in visual anthropology, the festival screens documentaries on various (sub-) cultures in a format combining screenings, discussions and seminars on different themes. All filmmakers are present, and much attention is paid to the discussions between them and the audience.

  • Documentary Educational Resources (DER)
    Documentary Educational Resources web site's primary purpose is to provide information about the documentary films we distribute. Secondarily, the web site provides information about our organization, services and resources on documentary filmmaking.
  • Ethnic Representation in Film
    The videographies provide a broad sampling of ethnic and racial representations in the movies over the last century. These films include works of mainstream Hollywood, as well as historical and current movies by film makers of color.
  • GIFF Goettingen International Ethnographic Film Festival
    The festival promotes documentary cinema in the context of intra- and intercultural communication with a special emphasis on new films, videos or interactive media dealing with anthropology, sociology and cultural studies in a wide sense of the term.
  • Granada Centre for Visual Anthropology

    The Granada Centre for Visual Anthropology is part of the Department of Social Anthropology, University of Manchester. With the aid of contributory funding from Granada Television, it has been in operation since 1987. Its aim is to promote the use of film, video and other visual media within anthropology.

  • Margaret Mead Film and Video Festival
    The Margaret Mead Film and Video festival is held at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, USA.
  • National Film Board of Canada
    For over 65 years, the National Film Board of Canada has been breaking ground in socially engaged Documentary, Auteur animation, alternative drama and more!
  • The Nordic Anthropological Film Association

    Their newsletter is published 4-6 times a year. It has a very usefull calendar of events in the field of visual anthropology. It is incorporating the Commission of Visual Anthropology (CVA) Circular. It is downloadable from their website - choose 'newsletter' - along with former volumes of NAFA Network.

  • Penn State Media & Technology Support Services
    Distributor of renowned educational films contributed by post secondary institutions and individual academic professionals. In the anthropology section they distribute several of the Margaret Mead & Gregory Bateson or Napoleon Chagnon & Timothy Asch films.
  • SIEFF Sardinia International Ethnographic Film Festival
    The Festival of the Istituto Superiore Regionale Etnografico of Sardinia represents since 1982 one of the rare occasions in Italy to attend an international event on ethnographic cinema.

  • Visual Anthropology Webring
    The Visual Anthropology webring lists sites relevant to the production and study of ethnographic, folkloric, and anthropological film, video, photography,and archives. These are websites dedicated to visual anthopology in Spanish language. Links and discussion board.
  • Women Make Movies
    Established in 1972 to address the under representation and misrepresentation of women in the media industry, Women Make Movies is a multicultural, multiracial, non-profit media arts organization which facilitates the production, promotion, distribution and exhibition of independent films and videotapes by and about women.
