The fee for the FAIII examination is £100. Applicants will be invoiced on submission of application, which should be sent by email to fac@therai.org.uk.

Applicants are also advised to consult the Practitioner LevelsCode of Practice and CPD documents. A range of documentation on the roles and responsibilities of the expert witness and the UK criminal justice systems is available on the BAFA website but this must not be considered to be the full extent of information required for examination purposes. If you are a practitioner outside of the UK you are eligible to apply for the RAI’s certification but you must show competency and be examined on the local criminal justice system you practice in.

Continuing professional development is a vital part of the certification process. FAIII practitioners are required to submit an application for recertification of their FAIII status every 5 years if they have not progressed to FAII in this time. Practitioners are advised to consult the CPD document and the FAIII recertification application form.
