Why the climate is changing from a Kogi perspective

Narciso Coronado

In the 1990s, the Kogi of Colombia sent a warning to the world that Mother Earth was dying. They explained the warning in the film, Message from the Heart of the World (Ereira 1992). By 2012, because little had changed, another film message was sent, this time called Aluna. The word Aluna describes the spiritual realm where Kogi spiritual leaders (Mamos) work and where the seeds of all thoughts are held by the great Mother. It is in Aluna that health can be seen, and healing achieved. Despite working tirelessly, the Mamos say they are struggling to keep our shared Earth balanced. In the hope that they can slow down the damage being wrought on the Mother, they have new information and are sending the son of one of their most important spiritual leaders to share it.

This talk will be delivered by Narciso, son of Mamo Manuel who can be seen in the second film, Aluna. Narciso brings his father’s message. In this talk he will also explain the purpose of gold and, for the first time, explain the meaning of the sacred gold Kogi objects held in the British Museum.

The talk is organised by the Tairona Heritage Trust, who have worked to amplify the voice of the Kogi people for almost 40 years. https://www.taironatrust.org/.
