HALF A CENTURY OF ANTHROPOLOGY: 50 YEARS OF PUBLISHED RESEARCH

Dr Max Carocci and Helen Earl-Fraser, Royal Anthropological Institute

Wednesday 5 March at 5.30 pm

The AIO as it is fondly known, has been a source of inspiration for generations of anthropologists in their search for bibliographical information. A key electronic resource today, the programme catalogues many hundred academic serials. The manager of the AIO programme, Dr Max Carocci and Helen Earl-Fraser, research assistant to the project, will discuss the preliminary findings emerging from a British Academy-funded research project which will enable quantitative assessment of the 50 years of anthropological production which is now represented by the AIO’s cumulative data holdings. The paper givers argue that their research will enable unexpected insights concerning the production of anthropological knowledge. As well as a general overview, case-study data regarding four Asian countries will be analysed to assess anthropological coverage, research interests, and areas of neglect.

This event is free, but tickets must be booked.  To book tickets please go to http://carocci.eventbrite.co.uk.
