An evening with Edith Durham

In association with the Anglo-Albanian Association

Dr Robert Elsie

Wednesday 24 February 2016, 5.30pm-7.30pm

Edith Durham was at once one of the most distinguished Fellows of the Royal Anthropological Institute, and a well-known war-correspondent, lecturer, writer, photographer and artist of Albania and the Balkans. A former Member of Council and Vice-President, she deposited her photographs and drawings in our archives, and they are amongst our most popular collections. We have digitised her lantern slides at the RAI. For this event will be showing them with a commentary by Dr Robert Elsie. Dr Elsie  is a world-renowned expert on the language and culture of Albania, as well as a writer and publisher of Edith Durham’s works (see http://www.elsie.de). This evening also marks the launch of a new exhibition of Edith Durham’s photographs in our institute seminar room.

The event is free, but tickets must be booked. To book tickets please go to http://edithdurham.eventbrite.co.uk
