Carnival, King of Europe: DVD launch & presentation

Friday 27 October at 6.00pm

Visual Anthropology Series

Carnival King of Europe is a research project of the Ethnographic Museum of San Michele all’Adige, Italy (Museo degli Usi e Costumi della Gente Trentina), that aims to bring into light the important similarities that can be observed among specific aspects of Carnivals and winter fertility rituals across different areas of Europe.

Film is an integral part of the project and the research. Since 2010 over 20 films have been produced, and the Royal Anthropological Institute is now making this extraordinary wealth of material available on DVD and online.
Giovanni Kezich will join us to speak about the project and to screen a selection of films from the collection.

Giovanni Kezich is Director of the Ethnographic Museum of San Michele all’Adige, Italy and lead investigator on the Carnival King of Europe project.
