Mark your calendars for 11–15 June 2025 and join us for the 19th edition of this prestigious event, taking place at the Watershed Cinema and Arnolfini Arts Centre in Bristol, UK.
Our heartfelt thanks to all our filmmakers, partners, colleagues and supporters for your patience and understanding whilst we have taken more time to confirm plans for the 2025 festival.
This year’s festival promises an inspiring selection of films from visionary filmmakers and researchers, accompanied by thought-provoking discussions and engaging community events.
The RAI FILM Festival is dedicated to celebrating bold, fearless films that confront challenging issues, foster dialogue, build bridges, and advocate for social justice. Established in 1985 by the Royal Anthropological Institute (UK), the RAI FILM Festival is a biennial international event and the largest of its kind, offering a rich array of films from every corner of the globe. We celebrate creative visions that push the boundaries of the non-fiction format as well as films that are in conversation with groundbreaking academic research. Join us as we explore powerful narratives that inspire change and promote understanding across diverse communities.
Whether you’re a cinema enthusiast, a researcher, an industry professional, or simply curious about the world through a cinematic lens, there’s something for everyone at the RAI FILM Festival.

In addition to our in-person event in Bristol, a selection of films will be available for streaming through the RAI FILM Festival’s four-week online programme from 16 June to 16 July 2025.
