Crooke, 29 Dec. 1910 - writes on behalf of husband who is ill with malaria and thanks for paper and letter; no evidence of cow reverence by Buddhists or Brahmins; gives quotes showing cow held in utilitarian affection only; Buddhists and Jains not averse to slaying of cattle. 3 pp. 17.5 x 11.5 cm

Crooke, 4 Feb. 1911 - has been unwell; congratulates WC on Presidency of Folklore Society; bull sacred in many lands but not Vedic; importance of cattle in Central Asia; ascribes sacredness of cow to Brahmans of Aryervarta; quotes various references to cows and Brahmans; worship of innocent cow later era than earlier worship of terrible creatures and arose with pilgrimage to holy places when modern Hinduism arose; wants to attend WC lecture on cow worship and sanctity of the cow. 12 pp. 18 x 11.5 cm
