We record with regret the death of one of our Australian Honorary Fellows, A. P. Elkin C.M.G. He was Emeritus Professor of Anthropology at the Univers-ity of Sydney where he held the Chair from 1933-1956. Born in 1891, he served as a Church of England parochial clergyman from 1915-1925. He was founder and editor of the Journal of Archaeology and Physical Anthropology in Oceania, and between 1961 and 1968 was President of the Australian Museum. His publications include Studies in Australian Totemism, 1933; The Australian Aborigines: How to Understand Them, 1938, Social Anthropology in Melanesia, 1952 and many other works.
