The Royal Anthropological Institute is proud to award the 2017 Photographic Studies Prize to Professor Elizabeth Edwards.
Friday 17 March at 5.00 pm
Please join us in this celebration on 17 March between 5.00 and 7.00 pm for an introduction by Professor Chris Pinney, a talk by Professor Edwards and a drinks reception.
Abstract:
This short and informal talk explores, through the metaphor of translation, the contributions, theoretical challenges and disturbances to photographic studies that have emerged from anthropology in recent years. With their shift from theoretical assumption to ‘actor category’ they offer productive contributions to the wider fields of both photography and anthropology.
