Workshop on early career researchers
in medical anthropology
What? An opportunity for medical anthropologists at all career stages to come together to reflect on issues facing early-career researchers, share our experiences, and work towards building a more supportive and equitable research culture.
Why? The current challenges in UK higher education (precarity, insecurity and under-investment) affect anthropologists across all career stages, but are disproportionately hitting ECRs. It is therefore more important than ever to reflect and collectively agree on actions that will support ECR career development.
How? Facilitated small-group and plenary discussions on topics ranging from research funding and publishing, to mentoring, career progression and working outside academia, in the context of current challenges in higher education.
When? 12.45-5pm on Wed 30th April 2025, including breaks.
How much: Free to attend, including refreshments.
Who? The workshop is hosted by the RAI’s Medical Anthropology and Biosocial Committees and co-facilitated by Kerry McElroy at the Prosper Project (Liverpool University).
