Note: (1 Feb. 2010) Elizabeth Willis, Curator Emeritus, History and Technology Dept., Museum Victoria, supplies the following information: I have determined that the Aboriginal vocabulary in your collection attributed to Colonel Champ is identical to the vocabulary collected and compiled by William Thomas, Assistant Protector and later Guardian of the Aborigines, in Victoria. It was exhibited under Champ’s name in the 1867 Exhibition, but is clearly Thomas’ work
